History of the Church
Hyles Baptist Church was founded with a simple but powerful mission: to faithfully preach the Word of God, win souls for Christ, and stand unapologetically on biblical truth. From the beginning, our church has been committed to being an independent, fundamental Baptist church, firmly rooted in
the King James Version (KJV) of the Bible.
What started as a small gathering of believers with a heart for God has grown into a thriving church family with a passion for reaching our community and beyond. Through the years, God has blessed Hyles Baptist Church with faithful leadership, a strong emphasis on soulwinning and discipleship, and a spirit of genuine love and unity among the congregation.
Though much has changed in the world around us, our purpose remains the same: to glorify God, preach His Word without compromise, and train future generations to walk in truth. We give God all the glory for what He has done—and we look forward with anticipation to what He will continue to do through the ministry of Hyles Baptist Church.
Our Mission
The mission of Hyles Baptist Church is to glorify God by faithfully preaching His Word, winning the lost to Christ, and training believers to live Spirit-filled, separated, and obedient lives according to the Scriptures.

Our Beliefs
Hyles Baptist Church is an independent, fundamental Baptist church that stands without apology on the inspired, preserved, and inerrant King James Version (KJV) of the Bible. Our beliefs are rooted in Scripture, not tradition or opinion. We believe the Bible is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.
Our Core Beliefs
The Bible
We believe the King James Bible is the perfect, preserved Word of God for English-speaking people. It is without error and is the sole authority for all doctrine and practice.
God
We believe in one true and living God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
Jesus Christ
We believe in the virgin birth, sinless life, sacrificial death, bodily resurrection, and literal second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the only way to salvation.
Salvation
We believe that salvation is by grace through faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. It is not earned by good works or religious rituals, but is a free gift to all who believe.
The Church
We believe the local church is a body of baptized believers who have voluntarily joined together to carry out the Great Commission. Christ is the Head of the church.
Heaven and Hell
We believe in a literal Heaven for the saved and a literal Hell for the lost. Every person will spend eternity in one of these two places, based on their acceptance or rejection of Jesus Christ.
A Simple Prayer
of Salvation
If you’ve never accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, you can do so right now. It’s not about the words you say, but the faith in your heart. Here’s a simple prayer you can pray:
“Dear Lord, I know that I am a sinner and I deserve to be separated from You. But I believe that Jesus died for my sins, was buried, and rose again. Right now, I place my faith in Jesus Christ alone to save me. I ask You to forgive me of my sin and give me the gift of eternal life. Thank You for saving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

Our Pastor
Pastor JT Talley was saved as a young man in Tallahassee, Florida, and attended Lakewood Baptist Church until his father was called to HBC in 1986. Since that time, Pastor Talley has been a faithful member of HBC, serving the Lord in various capacities through the years.
Three years ago, he surrendered to God's calling on his life and accepted the role of Interim Pastor. In August of 2025, he became the full-time Pastor of HBC, where he continues to lead with a heart for ministry and a deep love for people.
Outside of church, Pastor Talley enjoys spending time with his family - his wife, Jessica, and three daughters, Blayne, Ellie, and Hampton. He also enjoys coaching, hunting and fishing. His greatest desire is to see lives changed by the power of Jesus Christ and to serve others faithfully as he follows God' calling.
